Boost Converters are DC-DC converters that step up voltage provided by the input and delivers it across a load.

The figure on the left shows a simple boost converter circuit. The circuit comprises of an inductor, diode, capacitor and a switching device. Apart from this the an input voltage source and a load is also present.
Link for the various design equations are provided below. Calculations pertaining to the Simulation are shown below.

This is a concise introduction to boost converter design and simulation, focusing on one of the most fundamental DC–DC power electronics topologies.
I like how it clearly explains the basic function of a boost converter—stepping up a DC input voltage—and identifies the key components involved, such as the inductor, diode, capacitor, switching device, and load. Even in its simplicity, it captures the essential working principle that energy is first stored in the inductor and then released to achieve a higher output voltage.
The mention of design equations and simulation workflow is especially important, because in engineering practice, boost converters are not just theoretical circuits—they are extensively modeled and tested in tools like MATLAB/Simulink before physical implementation.
